Why Minecraft needs specific hardware

RAM is king

Minecraft loads chunks into RAM. Give it at least 4 GB for a small server — 8+ GB for modpacks like ATM or Technic.

Clock speed matters more than core count

Vanilla Minecraft is largely single-threaded. A 3.5 GHz dual-core will outperform a 2.4 GHz quad-core.

NVMe makes a visible difference

World saves and chunk I/O are disk-intensive. NVMe storage reduces lag spikes dramatically on busy servers.

Unlimited traffic — no surprises

Heavy modpacks and resource packs push significant bandwidth. Dedimax includes unlimited traffic on all plans — no overage fees.

Frequently asked questions

How many players can my server handle?

A cloud server with 4 GB RAM handles 10–20 vanilla players. A VPS with 8 GB RAM runs 30–50 players with Paper or Spigot. Heavy modpacks like ATM9 or Technic require 16 GB+ RAM for 20+ players. See the recommended configurations above.

Do I need to install Java on the server?

Your server comes with a Linux OS. You install Java with one command (OpenJDK 21 for Minecraft 1.21+). Full root access means you can install exactly the version Minecraft requires.

Can I run multiple worlds on the same server?

Yes. You can run multiple Minecraft server instances on different ports. A VPS with 8 GB RAM can typically run 2–3 small worlds simultaneously, each with its own RAM allocation.

What is the difference between Paper, Spigot, and Forge?

Paper and Spigot are performance-optimised vanilla alternatives — Paper is the best choice for most survival servers. Forge is for modpacks (ATM, Technic, FTB). All install identically on your Dedimax server.

Can I migrate my existing world to Dedimax?

Yes. Upload your world folder via SFTP and point your server to it. Your world, player data, and all configurations migrate without issues.

Hosting a Minecraft server requires a machine with enough RAM to load chunks and a fast processor for game logic. Unlike other games, Minecraft is largely single-threaded, so clock speed matters more than core count. For vanilla servers with up to 20 players, a cloud server with 4 GB RAM is sufficient. For modded servers or 50+ players, a VPS or dedicated server with 8–16 GB RAM and NVMe storage delivers a smooth experience. Dedimax offers instant deployment, unlimited bandwidth, and full root access — install Paper, Spigot, Forge, or any Minecraft server flavor you choose.
